Popularly known as Chris Brown (Chris Breezy), Christopher Maurice Brown was born on May 5, 1989. Perhaps many would not have been surprised to see young Chris Brown take up music as his passion, after all, he was the son of Late James Brown, a music legend. Being the son of a legend didn’t make it any easier for him. Like most singer, Chris began from the church choir where he started build his confidence and he tried talent hunt shows as he sought to break into the limelight.
He signed up with Jive Records in 2004 and he soon released his debut studio album titled “Chris Brown” in 2005. The album made it all the way to number 2 on the Billboard Hot 100 and it was also certified by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) and it sold over three hundred million copies worldwide. His first single “Run It” topped the US Billboard Hot 100. Chris Brown the first artist since P Diddy in 1997 to have his song top the chart, not bad for a start eh? In 2007, he released his second titled “Exclusive” also topped the Billboard Hot 100 chart with a hot track titled “Kiss Kiss” and just like the first, it was certified by the (RIAA). The album also included hits like “Forever” and “With You”.
Chris brown also worked with talented singer Jordin Sparks on a lovely duet titled “No Air”. He has also featured on several hit singles and has worked with different artists such as Bow Wow “Shawtie Like Mine”, T-Pain “Shawty Get Loose” a song that featured Lil Mama and T-Pain. The song made the eight spot on the Billboard Hot 100.
He ran into trouble in 2009 after pleading guilty to a felony assault on his girlfriend (Rihanna). He was sentenced to Five Years of probation and another Six Months of Community Service. He was out of prison a year later and he came back with a bang as he released his third studio album titled “Graffiti”. the album had hit track like “I can Transform Ya” and “Crawl”. He soon followed it up with the release of another album, his fourth album: F.A.M.E. The album had hit singles like “Yeah 3x”, “Look at Me Now”, and “Beautiful People”. The album earned Chris Brown his first Grammy nomination in the category of Best R& B Album. In 2012, Chris Brown dropped his fifth album, a real hard worker yeah? The following years X, Heartbreak on a Full Moon, and Royalty followed his fourth album. Chris Brown has reportedly sold over 100 million albums and singles worldwide. His songs are usually soulful, passionate and he also tends to spice it up with a burst of energy.
Chris Brown has also featured in movies as well. In Stomp the Yard (2007) he featured and made his film debut. He has also appeared in Takers (2010), Think Like a Man (2012), and Battle of the Year (2013). Chris Brown has won five Billboard Awards, five Soul Train Music Award and 14 BET Awards.
