Stephen developed quite a reputation for himself because he sat in the same booth and ordered the same meal without missing a day for nearly 20 years. For most of the staff, he became a symbol of comfort as they just knew that he will always smile at you, and the employees call him Mr. Steve.
According to Brittani Craft, Chick-fil-A marketing director, she said Stephen makes everyone at the restaurant feel loved and welcomed. One of Mr. Steve desire is to witness his 100th birthday, but a few months before his 100th birthday, he had an accident.
Stephen fell down, the fall did not result in any life-threatening injury, but Stephen’s family began to worry due to his old age.
Stephen took the best decision for his health by moving in with his son, and this reduced his daily visit to Chik-fil-A to just once a week because he is now far away from his favorite restaurant. After his fall, Mr. Steve remain strong and happy with his son and he still wouldn’t trade anything for his favorite chicken. So when Stephen’s 100th birthday finally arrived, he knew the perfect place to go: Chick-fil-A.
On the 21st of September 2018, Mr. Steve and his son went to Chik-fil-A to have a century taste of his favorite. The 100-year-old was excited to visit his favorite place, but the whole restaurant looked different with dozens of red balloons bobbling against the ceiling, party hats on his favorite booth table, a huge cardboard check hanged to the back wall, and a banner hung beside the front counter.
While Stephen could not get a full grasp on what is happening, Brittani Craft gave him a sincere hug, and that was when the celebrant knew what was going on, after reading the banner. It read, ‘Happy 100th Birthday, Mr. Steve!’ But there was more surprise waiting for Mr. Steve at his booth, Brittani delivered the final surprise to him by announcing to him that the restaurant is giving him free meal for the rest of your life. That act of love turned out to be the best gift the old man ever received. Stephen was overwhelmed after he confirmed that he will always get his favorite booth.
