Fifth Harmony is a group of very talented and professional singers that was created on The X Factor in 2012, and before the young ladies entered that series of the competition, none of them had met or knew each other. The singers were brought together by music and the perfect or trusted judgement of the judges, which includes Simon Cowell, the ex-judge of American Idol. They make Acapella covers of hit songs and also compose original songs of their own. The group has been successful for the past years since the creation, until very recently when the artistes began to make moves towards quitting and eventually going solo.
After Camila Cabello quit Fifth Harmony in 2016, leaving the remaining four members; Ally Brooke, Dinah Jane, Lauren Jauregui and Normani Kordei—soldiered on and released a self-titled album. In any case, the group of five amazing singers (now four) astonished their fans by revealing to them that they will be taking an indefinite break.
Kordei, who as of late collaborated with Khalid for the single “Love Lies,” had also been preparing to go solo. “Honestly, I feel like I’ve experienced a lot in the last six years, so I feel like just getting all of that out,” the 21 years old artist revealed in an interview to Beats 1 on Apple Music Monday.
She furthers on this note, saying “Whatever comes to mind, whatever I’m going through at the moment, I just want this to be an album that completely represents who Normani is—and for some people, it may be the first time.”
Kordei Normani is in the “early stages” of recording her “first full-length album”. Thus far, she has worked with Sarah Aarons, Sailor Heart, Victoria Monét, The Monsters, The Stereotypes and The Strangerz. She also included that she is very excited about the fact that she will be working with Ester Dean in the studio very soon.
In different ways, every one of the ladies from Fifth Harmony needed to curb her creativity and individual skill for the good of the group, as indicated by Jauregui. “When you’re extremely separated from your identity and you’re embarrassed about it, you can compose and recount a story, yet you can never truly recount your story,” Jauregui clarified. “That is the thing that isolates a considerable number of artists from others—the association.”
Like Kordei, Jauregui had prepared herself for a quest of solo accomplishment before Fifth Harmony disbanded. While she was still a member of the group, she worked together with Steve Aoki, Halsey, Marian Hill and Ty Dolla $ign on music collaborations. “Right now, I’m just exploring myself and getting in touch with myself creatively,” Jauregui told Playboy, adding that she wouldn’t like to put “limits” around what she can do without anyone else. Jauregui strongly believes that she can go farther than she is if she is not held back by the membership at the Fifth Harmony.
As Jauregui and Normani have made their plans clear about their solo quest, just like Camilla Cabello, the other two members of the group will have no choice but to also pursue solo carriers.
