Princess Anne at a Ford Party
Even royals knew how to have fun back in the 1970s. Below we see none other than Princess Anne attending a banquet on December 19th, 1973. The princess is dressed to the nines in a gorgeous gown and hairdo and wearing a big smile (which maybe was the result of copious amounts of alcohol).
The banquet was thrown in honor of famous Scottish racing driver Jackie Stewart, who was retiring from an illustrious career in motor racing. Ford organized the party, so you can imagine there were all the best party favors, and all the attendees in the photo seemed to be wearing chauffeur caps in honor of the racer and looked very entertained.
Elton John Amuses Party Guests
Legendary singer Elton John sure knew how to party and dress! The man has the most incredible repertoire of costumes and party photos and always seems to be having the best time.
Above, we see Elton having a blast in 1974 while entertaining party guests by wearing some very quirky glasses that seem to be adorned with some kind of string. The most amused seems to befriend an actress, Nanette Newman, who was a huge film star in the 70s.
Johnny Carson at The Tonight Show's 10th Anniversary Party
Before Jimmy Fallon and Jon Stewart, there was Johnny Carson, otherwise known as the godfather of American show hosting. During the 70s, Carson was one of America's most famous T.V. personas, the star of The Tonight Show, and also a comedian, producer, and writer of the show. Being a good show host goes hand in hand with being a people person and loving social events.

Barry Manilow and the Golden Girls
The 70s wouldn't have been the same with songs like 'Mandy' and 'Could It Be Magic. These and dozens of other chart-topping hits made singer Barry Manilow one of America's most famous music artists. And the man sure loved his parties.

Bob Crewe Living it Up at a Brazilian Nightclub
Now, this guy looks like he knows how to party. Below we see Bob Crewe with a friend partying in 1977 at the famous Brazilian-themed nightclub, Cachaca, in NYC. Bob Crewe was the American singer, songwriter, dancer, and record producer behind some of the 60s and 70s most famous songs.
He and Bob Gaudio wrote the famous "Can't Take My Eyes Off You," performed by Frankie Valli and the Four Seasons. Crewe and Gaudio went on to write several Top 10 singles for the Four Seasons. Crewe was also involved with the music group Disco-Tex and the Sex-O-Lettes.
Morgan Freeman
No introduction is needed here, as we are all familiar with actor Morgan Freeman and his stellar acting career. Apart from being a brilliant actor, he also knew how to party hard when the occasion called for it.

Everybody knows Robert De Niro, the actor, but few are aware that his father, Robert Senior, was a famous painter. De Niro Sr. was an American painter who focused on abstract expressionism and had several art shows in some of the country's most prestigious galleries.

This photo is a bit confusing, as it includes a 13-year-old Brooke Shields hanging out with a 33-year-old, Debbie Harry. The Blondie lead singer and famous rocker girl Harry were attending a platinum record party at the re-opened Copacabana nightclub in NYC in 1978.
Apparently, a young Brooke Shields thought it would be cool to pose next to a rockstar, which, let's face it, it is. We're just wondering if Shields' parents were there at the party somewhere. Hopefully yes.
Lou Reed Attends the Eric Emerson Funeral
Below we see American musician Lou Reed talking to a friend at the funeral of Eric Emerson, a star in Warhol movies. The funeral took place in New York in June of 1975, and even though it's a tragic event, Reed looks like he's straight out of a rock concert.
Lou Reed was a songwriter, musician, and poet with a career that lasted more than 50 years, first as the main member of the famous band The Velvet Underground and then as a solo artist.
The Myers Go to the Prom
You can definitely tell that both these people are artists. Just look at that fabulous zebra-pattern suit! The couple in question are landscape designer Debra Arch Myers and famous artist Forrest Frosty Myers.
The stylish couple attended the PS1 Prom in New York in 1976. The PS1 Prom was an event held by Public School 1 in Queens that served as a fundraiser for repurposing abandoned spaces for artistic activities.
Farah Fawcett Dances at Her Shampoo Party
American actress Farah Fawcett rose to fame after her iconic role in the 1976's TV show Charlie's Angels. She played the blonde bombshell, and it earned her four Emmy Awards nominations and six Golden Globe nominations. Pop began with his proto-punk band The Stooges back in 1967 and rose to fame during the 70s and 80s. The band broke up and reconciled several times, but that didn't seem to affect their fame or their fans' commitment.
A Young, Hippie-looking David Bowie Performs at a Party
It's almost impossible to recognize this man as David Bowie at first glance. Few people remember him as a young, 24-year-old long-haired hippie. But alas, here's the proof – in the photo below, we see a pre-glam Bowie jamming with his guitar at a party organized by future nightclub owner DJ Rodney Bingenheimer in 1971.
The party was at lawyer Paul Figen's house in Los Angeles, and we're sure that judging by his performance, it wasn't surprising to the guests to see Bowie at the top of the music world a few years later. With over 100 million records sold, dozens of chart-topping hits, and a stellar music career that has spanned over four decades, we can honestly say that Wonder is a bonafide legend.
Bruce Springsteen Attends a Sting Concert
All-American rock legend Bruce Springsteen attended an after-party with his girlfriend, Patti Scialfa, in 1988. It was a post-concert after-party thrown by Sting at the famous Canal Bar in NYC. The couple got married three years later, in 1991.

On October 3rd, 1970, the famous Friars Club in Beverly Hills threw a party in honor of American film actor and producer M.J. Frankovich. Naturally, the attendees included all sorts of A-list celebrities, including record producer Quincy Jones, Altovise Davis (Sammy Davis Jr.'s wife), and Ulla Andersson (Quincy Jone's wife at the time), all pictured below.
Altovise Davis was an American entertainer and Sammy Davis Jr.'s third wife, with whom she was married for 20 years. Quincy Jones is one of America's most famous and respected record producers, with a career of over seven decades.
Cher Attended a Movie Premiere in 1977
Diva Cher and friend Nick Grant are pictured below attending the movie premiere of the comedy-drama film, "Joseph Andrews," in March 1977. The premiere party was at the luxurious Century Plaza Hotel in Los Angeles and included a star-studded guest list, with actress Ann-Margret, Beryl Reid, Peter Firth, and more.

A very happy Candace Bergen is being carried by 70s party boy, model, and actor Sterling St. Jacques on a night out in New York City. The beautiful American actress Candace Bergen rose to fame for her star role in the CBS series Murphy Brown. The role earned Bergen five Emmy Awards and two Golden Globes.
As for Sterling St. Jacques, he was mostly known as a grey-eyed, extremely handsome hunk that starred in some 70s movies and was clearly a top-earning model. The picture above was taken around 1979 in New York. St. Jacques tragically passed away in 1984 from AIDS complications.

O'Neal is an American actress that became famous for being the youngest person to win an Oscar when she won at ten years old for her role in the movie Paper Moon alongside her father, famous actor Ryan O'Neal.

Probably the most eccentric and genius comedian to ever come out of the 70s was Andy Kaufman. The New York-born entertainer and performer had a prolific career during the 70s and early 80s, appearing on SNL and releasing several comedy specials of his own.

One of the most famous symbols of the 50s and 60s, French actress and model Brigitte Bardot, was simply breathtaking. Bardot made a name for herself by playing film roles of free characters and strong, independent women with wild lifestyles.
