Bucharest, Romania
The capital of Romania, and also its largest city, Bucharest boasts an interesting architectural mix of communist-era and modern buildings. Dubbed the “Paris of the East”, Bucharest is known for its elegance and class, even having its own version of the Arc de Triomphe, called Arcul de Triumf.
Situated on the Dambovita River banks, Bucharest also has many historical sites to visit, including the Palace of the Parliament, which is the largest Parliament building in the world. Also, it is home to the fascinating National Museum of Contemporary Art.
Munich, Germany
Munich is the third largest city in Germany, and it is famous for its blend of modern and historic architecture. Many of the city's buildings were completely destroyed in World War II, but they were reconstructed and stand as grand landmarks in the city's beautiful landscape.
The city center is stunning, and the open square of Marienplatz is definitely worth a visit. From there you can visit the Old and New town halls, which are both quite beautiful. Marienplatz has been Munich's main square since 1158.
Dubrovnik, Croatia
You may have only heard about this city through the popular series "Game of Thrones", but Dubrovnik is worth a visit for far more than just that reason. Located in the southern part of Croatia, Duborvnik's white buildings covered in terracotta roofs make this city an architectural gem.
The beautiful architecture faces the bright blue Adriatic Sea, which is a lovely resting spot after a long day of walking around the city. Take a cable car to Mount Srd for a gorgeous view, visit the Lokrum isle located nearby, or have a drink at the many cliff bars that dot a city with Gothic, Baroque and Renaissance architecture.
Rio de Janeiro, Brazil
