St. Petersburg, Russia
Russia has a fascinating history, and the city of St. Petersburg holds a lot of it. Bordering with the Baltic Sea, this port city is the home of centuries old historic buildings and culture. Not to mention its stunning, incredibly detailed and ornate architecture.
Go see some of St. Petersburg’s best works of art at the Hermitage Museum, the Mariinsky Theater and the State Russian Museum. Also, don’t forget to visit Peterhof Palace, Catherine Palace, Saint Isaac’s Cathedral and the Church of the Savior on Spilled Blood.
Rome, Italy
Italy's capital simply had to be on this list. Rome has countless sites to get lost in, not to mention an incredibly rich history. As one of the world's most famous ancient cities, Rome is home to the legendary Coliseum and the Trevi Fountain.
Aside from the lovely streets and the great food, you can take a stroll on the Spanish Steps, eat an ice cream in the Piazza Navona or eat at one of the countless rooftop restaurants and bars. f you're feeling like more of a walk, go visit Gianicolo Hill.
Eze, France
Although Eze is really a commune in southeastern France, many call it a 'city'. Eze is located on a hill above the Mediterranean Sea, and has a history dating back to 2000 B.C. Ancient Greek silver has been found around the area, and is now part of a collection at the British Museum.
Since the architecture in Eze is so stunning, many people call the place a village-musee (museum village). One of the little town's most gorgeous and oldest buildings is the Chapelle de la Sainte Croix.
Madrid, Spain
The capital of Spain is very majestic, and certainly offers something for every type of traveler. The beautiful gardens of El Retiro park, the wide boulevards in Gran Via street, or the amazing art work at the El Prado Museum are enough to make this city worth visiting.
Go to the famous Cuesta de Moyano to buy a a rare, vintage book, or go eat tapas at any of the bars. Walk around to see the gorgeous palaces and the beautiful flowers in Jardines de Aranjuez, which was declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Finish off the day at the top of the Edificio Metrópolis, where you will see 30,000 leaves of 24-carat gold.
Havana, Cuba
The brightly-colored architecture from colonial-era Spain, the famous restaurants where Ernest Hemingway ate and drank countless mojitos, and the enchanting cobblestone streets are just a tiny part of what makes Havana an unforgettable city.
The capital of Cuba, Havana has seen its fair share of history, and what were once majestic palaces are now museums. It has one of the largest opera houses in the world, offers some of the best culinary experiences you will ever have, and seems to have music within its walls. Visit the white, sandy beaches of Playas del Este beach, complete with tall palm trees and hypnotizing ocean breezes.
