There is strength in vulnerability
You don’t have to prove to the world that you are the strongest parent out there and that you don’t need anyone’s help. It is okay to feel flustered or that you haven’t found the balance between parenting styles that best suit your children. Taking a step back to breathe and remembering you are human, is a step in the right direction. Ask your friends and family for support or advice.
Tighten those bonds
Making an effort to tighten the bond with your child by improving communication does your soul and your child’s self-esteem a lot of good! While of course, the load is heavier, single parents might benefit from the more intimate dynamic. Remember, it’s just you and your kid, meaning that this is a great opportunity to really get to know their budding little personality. The stronger the communication, the easier conflict is to resolve.
Time Is on Your Side If You Want It to Be
If you’re a single parent with children, especially young mothers, you are most likely working extra-long hours to make ends meet. Those moments you spend with your child on a daily should be treasured, they are not getting younger, and those times get more precious as time goes by. Even if it’s joining them watching TV, your child needs to feel that you want to spend time with them. There is no perfect parenting, but there are ways to ensure that the space children grow up in is safe, positive, and encouraging for a happy life. Children thrive in spaces that are nurturing and filled with love and positivity, you don’t need two parents to achieve that.
