It is just very amazing how celebrities from the middle of the 20th century of even older are still alive and kicking around the world. Many of these celebrities were born in the early years of the twentieth century and they are still alive, despite the drama of being rich and famous. This article mentions a couple of them in acknowledgement of their strength and contribution to humanity.
KIRK DOUGLAS – He was born on the 9th of December 1916, which makes him a hundred and two years old. He was born in Amsterdam, New York. He became an active, actor, director, author and producer at the age of 30, which was in 1946. He is popular for his works, Spartacus, Lust for life, Champion, amongst others. He is considered to be a legend in the Hollywood movie industry. He is also the father of famous and award winning actor, Michael Douglas. Although, he never won any Academy award, he is a recipient of the lifetime achievement award in the Oscars. He has featured in many award winning movies, some of which he wrote, and he has written a number of autobiographical works.
OLIVIA DE HAVILLAND – Born on the first day of July, in the year 1916, in Tokyo Japan, the 102 year old retired actor is still alive. She retired from acting in the year 1988, when she was 72 years old. She is famous for her roles in the movies, The Snake Pit, Adventures of Robin Hood, To Each His Own, Captain Blood and Gone with the wind, amidst the many other movies in which she starred. Her first movie was A Midsummer Night’s Dream, where she acted the role of Hermia. This movie won her a seven-year contract with Warner Bros. She has won many awards and in 2017, she was appointed as the Dame Commander of the Order of the British Empire.
PATRICIA MORRISON – She was born on the 19th of March, 1915, which means she is 103 years old. The actress and singer was born in New York city. She started her career (officially) at the age of 18 and retired when she was 74 years old in 1989. She is one of the very few musicians who were also actors, to have had an active career for that long, 56 whole years. Her works, Rangers of Fortune; The Song of Bernadette; Kiss Me, Kate (stage); The King and I (stage), amongst others were the most popular. Her acting career was basically on stage when she started out, and she was very good at it. Although, some honourary invitations to appear in a number of movies after her retirement, has made her face appear in the screens, in recent times, she still maintains that she has retired to painting, which was, according to her, one of her earliest passions.
There are celebrities who died young, but this is because they are humans, and humans die young. It is never because they are celebrities.
