Incase you were wondering if this was a fraudulent scandal. It’s not, the superstar actor only sincerely made an attempt to be anonymous while getting a cup of coffee. Who knew that an ordinary Starbucks request could drum up such a buzz?
A lot of celebrities would love to live a simple and ordinary life without the popularity drama when they go out to public places. Some of them have to go in a disguise, a camouflage or even with security guards because anything could happen. Zach was probably trying to do the same.
On a scene of The Late Show, Zachary Quinto recounted the account of how he went to Starbucks to get a snack, how he used a fake name to make his request—and how he got absolutely busted for it.
As indicated by Quinto, the 40-year-old performer was in Ann Arbor, Mich, shooting a film when he chose to go to Starbucks for a quick coffee break. Not having the intention to make the order with his real name, the Star Trek star said the order was for “Josh.” That is the point at which the movie star heard a young lady “sort of snickering” at him.
After his visit, he saw that a young lady by the name of Sophia had called him out on Twitter for his phony false name.
She tweeted; “Zachary Quinto thinks he can come into MY Starbucks, use the fake name Josh for his order, and not get recognized?? Girl check ur eyebrows.”
She went as far as declaring to the world on Twitter what his order contained.
“He got a tall latte [with] almond milk and 1 pump of vanilla,” she tweeted.
In the course of the show, when the host James Corden inquired as to whether he thought the person behind the tweet and the person who snickered at him were the same person, Quinto answered, “That was definitely Sophia. 100% in retrospect.”
Quinto sincerely apologized on the show for making the order with the false name and said gets “nervous or self-conscious”, every now and then, when he’s out without company. “Maybe people don’t’ know me, and I can go undercover” he said. Obviously, that is not generally the situation as confirmed by the tweet from Sophia.
All in all, for what reason did he pick the name Josh? He explained further during the show that people call him Josh mistakenly a lot. The name he has been wrongly tagged all his life by the people around him is Josh, probably because he looks like a Josh.
Another guest on the show, Rupert Friend commented on this issue of being called a name one looks like, but which is not one’s name, that he’d probably have been named Diggory if he wasn’t named Rupert. The host of the Late Show eventually teased that if he wanted to visit Starbucks too, he should use the name.
