Edinburgh, Scotland
If you’re a lover of literature, Edinburgh is the place for you. The capital of Scotland is rich in history and has produced some of the world’s most incredible writers, including Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, Muriel Spark and J.K. Rowling.
The small city of Edinburgh has many sites to see, among them Arthur’s Seat, the famous Edinburgh Castle, and the spookiest graveyard in the world, Greyfriars Kirkyard. The locals lovingly refer to Scotland as Auld Reekie (Old Smoky in Scots), because back in coal-burning days, people that lived in the countryside always saw a cloud of smoke over the city from afar.
Hoi An, Vietnam
Vietnam is home to many incredible cities, and one of those is Hoi An. The whole city has been declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site, and it has the goods to back it up. Located on Vietnam's central coast, Hoi An is known for having an incredibly well-preserved Ancient Town, which is cut through by canals.
Visit the famous Japanese Bridge, which has an impressive Buddhist temple to its side. One of the most incredible thins to witness in Hoi An is the Lantern Full Moon Festival, which happens every full moon cycle. At the festival hundreds of people exchange lanterns, flowers and other 'good luck' gifts.
New York, USA
New York is truly one of the greatest cities in the world. This North American city has everything you could ever imagine: incredible food from every part of the world, stunning art, historic streets, lush nature, high-end shopping, theater shows, cinemas, architecture, and much more.
Comprised of five different boroughs, New York City is a very densely populated place. The city sits at the meeting point of the Hudson River and the Atlantic Ocean, me of its most iconic sites are the Brooklyn Bridge, Central Park, the Rockeffeler Center, Broadway, the MOMA, the Met, the Lincoln Center, and of course, Greenwich Village.
Queenstown, New Zealand
New Zealand is one of the most stunning countries in the world, and Queenstown is one of its most beautiful cities. With the grand Southern Alps as its background, and the mysterious blue water of Lake Wkatipu, Queenstown looks like something straight out of a fairytale.
Adventure junkies will love this city, but it also has something to offer for the more quiet types, including wonderful vineyards, gardens, and a lovely drive to Glenorchy.
Zurich, Switzerland
Zurich is a world-famous economic center, complete with beautiful architecture, colorful streets and gorgeous nature. The city sits on Lake Zurich, in northern Switzerland. If you're in the mood for some quality window shopping, head over to the Bahnhofstrasse neighborhood, and if you're feeling more into medieval history, visit Altstadt (Old Town).
For nature lovers, they should take a cruise on the Limmat River, or go hiking in some of the nearby mountains.
