Nicolas Cage and Alice Kim (Waitress)
Nicholas Cage married his third wife, waitress Alice Kim, on a private ranch in 2004. After having previously been married (and then divorced) twice to celebrities, it seems the actor decided to explore more down to Earth options. The two met in a restaurant where a 19-year-old Kim was working, and the two moved forward with their relationship quickly. Just a few months after exchanging vows, Kim gave birth to their son, Kal-El, named after Superman himself.
Unfortunately, the marriage didn’t last and they split after eleven years of marriage. Cage was open about his disappointment that their marriage failed, saying in an interview with The Guardian , “It was a shocker for me – I definitely didn’t see it coming…And now it’s like, wow, I’m 54 and I’m single again – I didn’t see that coming! It’s pretty grim.” There were rumors of Kim cheating on the actor, which may have led to the split.
Matt Damon and Luciana Barroso (Bartender)
Matt Damon met Luciana Barroso while he was filming Stuck On You in 2003. Damon stopped at a bar in Miami on his night off where he noticed Barroso bartending. It was love at first sight and the two have been joined at the hip ever since.
The duo married a few years after meeting and their relationship has only grown stronger since then. While raising their four kids, Isabella, Stella, Alexia, and Gia, the couple has maintained a relatively private life. The actor’s life is practically a real-life rom-com!
Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes (Actress)
Katie Holmes once said in an interview that she’d always dreamed she’d get married to Tom Cruise and that she would often daydream of the veteran actor before she even met him. Her fantasies soon came true, although they were fleeting. The duo met, fell in love, and just seven weeks later they announced their engagement.
After numerous accusations that the couple was together as a publicity stunt, Cruise felt the need to prove his love by jumping up and down on Oprah's couch yelling about being in love. The video would prove to be just one of the many strange things to come out of their relationship. After a few years of marriage, Cruise and Holmes were rumored to disagree on the actor’s involvement in Scientology and ultimately decided to end their marriage. In addition to no longer having a relationship with Holmes, Cruise hasn’t been seen with his daughter, Suri, since 2013.
Elvis Presley and Priscilla Wagner (High School Student)
Elvis Presley was already a famous rock 'n roll star when he first saw Priscilla Wagner at a party in Germany. She was just 14-years-old at that time which initially led to her parents’ disapproval of the relationship. They disagreed with Presley's lifestyle as well as the age difference between him and their daughter, but two years later, they gave in. Wagner was allowed to move to Memphis to be with Presley under the condition that she lived with the singer’s father and stepfather several blocks from the Graceland mansion until she completed high school.
During this time, it was frowned upon for couples to live together without being married, so the two were pressured to walk down the aisle in 1967. Their marriage was short-lived however and ended in 1973 after Wagner filed for divorce. There were allegations of affairs by both Wagner and Presley before they separated. The duo had one daughter together, the famous Lisa Marie Presley.
Chris Martin and Gwyneth Paltrow (Actress)
The relationship between Coldplay frontman Chris Martin and actress Gwyneth Paltrow began with the media, as several stories were published claiming the two were together. Meanwhile, they hadn't even met yet! Eventually, at one of his concerts, Martin’s manager invited Paltrow backstage to meet the musician and they hit it off.
The duo immediately fell in love and started dating, making their long-distance relationship last for years. Martin and Paltrow wed in 2003 in a small, private ceremony. Their marriage lasted just over a decade, and in 2015, Paltrow filed for divorce. They have two kids together, Apple and Moses.
